Longwood Gardens is seeking a part time Horticulturist Assistant for the Outdoor Landscape Division. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the historic Main Fountain Garden, Rose Garden, Topiary Garden, Front Gate and the Hillside Garden. This individual will join a skilled horticultural team and will learn to perform a wide range of horticultural tasks and duties with guidance. Responsibilities will include watering, weeding, mulching, shearing and planting. This individual will work with students, volunteers, and other staff members to create and maintain the garden's horticultural excellence.

Requirements

Desire to learn and advance in the field of horticulture.
The ability to bend, stoop, and lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to work from ladders and small equipment.
A valid driver’s license and be willing to adhere to Longwood’s safety protocols.
The ability to work occasional weekends to support watering tasks.
The successful candidates will be effective working as part of a team as well as independently and have the ability to work from ladders and aerial lifts up to 30 feet.
