About The Position

Chaplain Spiritual support. Compassionate presence. Overview The Hospice Chaplain provides spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and families receiving care in home or facility settings. Schedule & Coverage • Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM • Genesee County • This position participates in a shared on-call rotation, including weekly on-call coverage and rotating weekends with other team members. Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal background check & MVR check.
  • Completed health statements acknowledging the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid state drivers license.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR card; On-line CPR certification accepted; Hands-on CPR certification preferred.
  • TB testing per agency policy; (1 or 2 step TB skin test within 12 months of hire & annual TB symptom screening thereafter).
  • Ability to work independently, make accurate, and at times, quick judgments.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to crises outside of a hospital setting.
  • Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural, and religious modes.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a chaplain/spiritual counselor, preferred.
  • Active patient contact within the past three years is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in a hospital or pastoral ministry.
  • Certificate or degree in pastoral ministry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct spiritual assessments
  • Provide spiritual counseling and support
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Support patients, families, and caregivers
  • Help optimize the capital structure and support strategic initiatives.
  • Maintains the agencys mission, philosophy, and core values.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures regarding operations/processes, including but not limited to those regarding patient care, patient complaints, incidents, safety, and emergency management.
  • Always maintains patient confidentiality, including all HIPAA regulations.
