We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to serve as the Hospice Executive Director, guiding our interdisciplinary team and shaping the future of hospice care for the patients and families we serve. As Hospice Executive Director, you will oversee the daily operations of the hospice program while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and team engagement. Visting Nurse Association Specializes in home hospice that provides compassionate, end-of-life care to patients in the comfort of their own homes. Their skilled nurses focus on managing pain and symptoms, supporting emotional and spiritual needs, and guiding both patients and families through the hospice journey. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, the VNA ensures dignity, comfort, and quality of life during a patient’s final days while offering education, resources, and respite support to caregivers. Lead the Hospice Team Provide leadership and direct supervision to hospice staff, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and professional development. Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, and recognition through team development and regular staff rounding. Lead Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Ensure Exceptional Patient Care Establish and uphold clinical care standards across all hospice services. Ensure care delivery aligns with nursing best practices, agency policies, and regulatory requirements. Support staff in managing complex patient needs including pain and symptom management, crisis intervention, and family counseling. Oversee Hospice Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of the hospice program, ensuring adequate staffing and efficient care delivery. Oversee bereavement and volunteer programs to ensure compassionate support for families. Lead quality initiatives through the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Strengthen Community Partnerships Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and educational institutions. Serve as an ambassador for the hospice program by educating community partners about hospice philosophy and services. Collaborate with the marketing team to expand service reach and grow hospice census. Drive Strategic and Financial Success Monitor operational and financial performance against strategic goals and budget. Review operational reports related to productivity, improvement plans, equipment utilization, and pharmacy services. Develop and refine processes that improve patient outcomes and optimize resource use.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 2 years of hospice nursing experience
  • Strong knowledge of pain and symptom management, crisis intervention, and patient/family counseling
  • Commitment to the philosophy and mission of hospice care
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years hospice experience
  • Healthcare management or leadership experience
