About The Position

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations at a key medical center. This leadership role is responsible for managing laboratory services, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing staffing and financial performance, and maintaining high-quality patient care standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (required).
  • National Medical Technologist (MT) Certification required.
  • State licensure required where applicable.
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Strong leadership, operational management, and regulatory compliance experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Previous hospital clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations including staffing, hiring, orientation, training, and performance management.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to laboratory staff while promoting a culture of quality, accountability, and excellence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, financial performance, and service quality.
  • Manage laboratory budgets, conduct Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs), and monitor financial variances.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards including CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
  • Maintain and update laboratory policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Manage vendor relationships, supply chain processes, and laboratory contracts.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to implement operational improvements and enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Collect and evaluate operational feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
