About The Position

WisHope is a peer-run organization dedicated to supporting individuals in recovery through community, accountability, and hope. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and recovery-focused Sober Living House Manager to oversee the daily operations of our sober living residence. This role is well-suited for individuals early in their own recovery journey who are looking to grow their leadership skills while giving back to the recovery community. The House Manager plays a vital role in fostering a safe, structured, and supportive living environment where residents can focus on sustained recovery.

Requirements

  • Lived experience in recovery strongly encouraged; this role is ideal for individuals early in their recovery journey who are ready to take on leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries while offering peer-based support.
  • Commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental care.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sober living, peer support, or social services preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, offering peer-based guidance, encouragement, and support throughout their recovery journey.
  • Enforce house rules and policies consistently, respectfully, and fairly to maintain a safe and sober environment.
  • Conduct regular resident check-ins to assess progress, provide support, and address challenges.
  • Facilitate house meetings focused on accountability, community building, and shared problem-solving.
  • Mediate resident conflicts in a constructive, solution-oriented manner.
  • Ensure residents are actively engaged in recovery supports such as AA/NA meetings, therapy, and life-skills programming.
  • Oversee day-to-day house operations to ensure the residence is clean, well-maintained, and safe.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols, including fire safety, emergency procedures, and security guidelines.
  • Maintain house supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate inventory and functionality.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive community grounded in peer support, mutual respect, and accountability.
  • Encourage resident participation in group activities, community events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Support residents in building connections to outside resources such as recovery groups, vocational training, and mental health services.
  • Promote shared responsibility for maintaining a clean and respectful living environment.
  • Ensure compliance with WisHope policies, procedures, and applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including intake forms, progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Provide regular updates to the Program Director regarding resident progress, incidents, and operational concerns.
  • Assist with reporting requirements for funding or regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies including medical situations, relapses, or behavioral issues, escalating to appropriate professionals or authorities when necessary.
  • Administer first aid or CPR if needed and ensure residents understand emergency procedures.
  • Provide calm, compassionate, non-judgmental support to residents during crises and connect them to appropriate resources.
  • Collaborate with case managers, counselors, and program staff to ensure coordinated, peer-informed resident support.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff or volunteers, ensuring alignment with WisHope’s values, policies, and operations.
