About The Position

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah is a 50-bed specialty hospital in north Houston providing inpatient care for children with complex medical and behavioral health needs. Our team bridges the gap from hospital to home, providing expert, compassionate care to help patients reach their milestones. The House Supervisor (RN) serves as the clinical and operational leader for the hospital during assigned shifts. This role ensures safe, high-quality patient care, supports nursing staff, and coordinates hospital-wide operations in a fast-paced pediatric environment. The House Supervisor acts as the primary administrative decision-maker after hours and plays a key role in patient flow, staffing, and emergency response.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatric, behavioral health, or acute care settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead in high-pressure, fast-paced environments

Nice To Haves

  • Previous charge nurse, supervisor, or leadership experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site administrative leader during assigned shifts
  • Oversee hospital operations including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation
  • Provide real-time decision-making support for clinical and operational issues
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols
  • Support nursing and clinical staff in delivering high-quality pediatric care
  • Respond to and assist with clinical emergencies and behavioral escalations
  • Act as a clinical resource for complex patient care situations
  • Monitor patient acuity and adjust staffing assignments accordingly
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to nursing and interdisciplinary teams
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment across departments
  • Assist with conflict resolution and staff concerns in real time
  • Partner with leadership to ensure continuity of care and communication across shifts
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to clinical standards
  • Participate in incident review and follow-up as needed
