As a Floater Housekeeper, you will support both the housekeeping and laundry teams, flexing between both departments as needed. Your days will be varied, but your mission is always the same: to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our elders, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Able to successfully perform all key responsibilities of the role with reliability and care.
  • Strictly follows universal precautions and uses personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe environment, especially when there is potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Responsibilities

  • Gather all required equipment and supplies before beginning your shift
  • Maintain cleanliness in elder rooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas
  • Vacuum, dust mop, and damp mop floors in rooms, corridors, stairwells, and entrances
  • Dust vents, cabinets, and furniture—especially those high or hard-to-reach areas
  • Assist with moving furniture for deeper cleaning when needed
  • Wash beds and mattresses; remake beds on schedule or as requested
  • Use extractors to clean carpets and upholstered chairs as necessary
  • Follow all infection control protocols and wear PPE when required
  • Use correct chemicals and tools for each task; report equipment issues promptly
  • Keep carts, closets, and equipment clean, neat, and locked when unattended
  • Collect and transport trash and recyclables to the designated areas
  • Use WorxHub for scheduling, quality tracking, and billing
  • Collect soiled linens and transport them to the laundry area following infection control protocols
  • Separate laundry by fabric type and color
  • Ensure loads are within proper weight limits before starting wash cycles
  • Load washers, select the right cycle/formula, and verify proper chemical injection
  • Transfer wet loads to dryers, select appropriate time/temperature, and start drying cycles
  • Clean dryer lint traps and record maintenance in daily logs
  • Fold clean linens and personal laundry; load delivery carts and deliver items on schedule
  • Tag residents’ personal clothing as needed
  • Check items for damage or wear; remove unsuitable linens from rotation
  • Record load types, weight, and classifications on daily laundry reports
  • Keep an eye on laundry chemical inventory and notify supervisor when stock is low
