The Housekeeper performs daily cleaning tasks in residents’ rooms and common areas. Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy and vibrant home for our residents. Requirements

  • 1 year relevant work experience
  • No educational requirements
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Knowledge of Timekeeping system
  • Ability to speak and comprehend English the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and/or comprehend other languages utilized by clients is a plus.
  • Stand on your feet throughout work period. Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Possess multi-limb and eye-hand coordination, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Able to sit at a desk, working on computers and operating phones.

Responsibilities

  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas in order to meet health standards
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
  • Use wheeled carts to transport linens, restroom supplies and cleaning supplies
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal area
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners
  • Dusts and polish furniture and equipment
  • Mop and sanitize floors in rooms and offices
  • Sort, count and mark and store clean linens; transport soiled linen to central collection location
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean and tidy
  • Prepare rooms for meetings; arrange decor and furniture for social and business functions
  • Request Facilities repair services.
  • Observe precautions required to protect Channing House and guest property; report damaged, theft and found articles to supervisor
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommends repairs as needed
  • Assist in cleaning of spills when observed or upon request
  • Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines, iron and fold dried items
  • Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies and bathroom items
  • Spot clean walls and windows
  • Perform vacant apartment cleaning as assigned
  • Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings
