About The Position

Housekeeping and Laundry Aide ensures a clean, sanitary, and well-maintained environment by washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens, while also performing general cleaning duties in all areas of the hospital and clinic. This position is part-time, and hours are Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Uses only approved cleaning products in accordance with label instructions or instructions provided by supervisor.
  • Maintains the safety of patients, visitors, staff and others by keeping cleaning products in locked cart or cabinet when not in use.
  • Reports repair needs to supervisor or Facilities and Plant Operations Department in accordance with established procedures.
  • Advises supervisor of supply and equipment needs.
  • As assigned and in accordance with established time frames, transports soiled laundry receptacles to the laundry area.
  • Sorts laundry according to established standards, pre-soaks as necessary to remove or prevent stains and loads washing machines.
  • Transfers washed laundry from washing machine to dryer(s) in approved sanitized container.
  • Sets washing machine(s) and dryer(s) to appropriate operational setting to ensure that laundered items are washed and dried in an appropriate and safe manner.
  • Removes dried laundry from dryer(s) and folds, stacks or hangs clean items in proper location away from soiled laundry.
  • Cleans lint traps of dryers regularly.
  • Housekeeping Aide duties on a regular schedule.
  • Empties trash.
  • Cleans, mops, scrubs, sweeps, or vacuums floors.
  • Cleans, washes, dusts, or polishes hardware, furniture, mirrors, bedside lighting fixtures, vents, radiators, and exteriors of cabinets and equipment.
  • Cleans patient rooms and/or offices thoroughly by mopping floors, washing furniture, scrubbing plastic cushions, frames and cleaning and washing bathroom fixtures and walls.
  • Reports repairs needed to supervisors including broken or cracked window panes, leaky faucets, toilets, loose tiles, broken venetian blinds and damaged furniture.
  • Follows all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and uses personal protective equipment as needed while cleaning patient care areas.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities as required to improve the environment for CDP patients, staff and visitors.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Maintains compliance with mandatory training initiatives, competencies, and licensure requirements.
  • Complies with all CDP and departmental programs, policies and procedures (i.e. administrative, HR, financial, clinical, quality, and safety policies and procedures).
  • Ensures and protects the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Complies with all federal, state, and local standards and laws regulating the provision of professional services (licensure and scope of practice).
  • Attends any mandatory training(s) or meeting(s) as required on a consistent regular basis.
