About The Position

Tucked among the birch forests of coastal Maine, Hidden Pond offers guests a peaceful luxury retreat where thoughtful service and attention to detail create an exceptional stay. We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Houseperson to support our housekeeping team and help maintain the beautiful cottages, bungalows, and guest spaces throughout the property. In this role, you will assist with the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring guest areas are clean, organized, and well stocked. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, enjoys working behind the scenes to support the guest experience, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Guest Room Attendants with in-house laundry (linen removal, laundering, and restocking of).
  • Clean and maintain public spaces in hotel, restaurant, and other spaces such as pool areas, spa, etc.
  • Clean exterior public spaces such as sweeping patios, dusting exterior lighting of cobwebs, trash removal, etc.
  • Regularly inspect high traffic areas.
  • Moving of furniture and re-arranging as assigned.
  • Assist with set up of table and chairs for in-house events or special promotions.
  • Restock public area amenities.
  • Trash removal.
  • Dusting and sanitizing of surfaces
  • Maintain guest and employee restrooms.
  • Clean toilets, sinks, counters, and all bathroom areas.
  • Sweep, vacuum, Swiffer, and mop floors to ensure high level of cleanliness.
  • Greet and interact with guests as needed.
  • Handle guest requests with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ensure discretion and respect guest privacy at all times.
  • Communicate any lost and found items to front desk.
  • Report immediately and turn over for secure proper storage.
  • Restock laundry carts and housekeeping closets daily.
  • Return heat/air conditioning to default temperature.
  • Assist with housekeeping inventory tasks.
  • Report low par levels and damage.
  • Adhere to security procedures for the handling of all keys.
  • Clean and organize the housekeeping area at the end of each shift, respectfully setting up the next shift for success.
  • Communicate closely with other departments, such as when a guest reports a maintenance work order or front desk issue to be addressed.
  • Use Whistle to submit maintenance tickets and monitor cross-departmental communication during shift.
  • Assist guests with luggage especially for large groups when needed.
  • Assist in keeping employee back of house areas clean, such as hallways, stairwells, employee entrances, restrooms, and lounge spaces.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist in training new staff as requested.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and/or flexible hours based on business needs.
  • Use safe work practices daily.
  • Report any unsafe areas to maintenance and direct manager.
  • Understand best practices in Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Accident Reporting, Right to Know Law, Written Information Security Program, Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures, and ensuring compliance with zero-tolerance policies including Anti-Harassment, Violence in the Workplace, or Influence in the Workplace.
  • Comply with all time and attendance policies.
  • Comply with all uniform, dress code, and appearance standards.
