Job Description: Job Family Definition: At HPE HPC & AI Storage, we build the filesystems and storage solutions to enable the largest national labs science discoveries, help supercolliders find new physics, enable major universities research, increase the accuracy of weather forecasts & simulations, empower major automotive organizations to complete fluid dynamics simulations on race cars, and other exciting workloads. In this role, you’ll be supporting the development of the world’s largest and fastest supercomputers and their associated filesystems. This role will have systems engineering support responsibilities including installing and debugging hardware, firmware, and software for new and existing HPC & AI products. This role has a broad technology scope that includes physically racking and moving computer equipment, inventory management, using Linux operating systems, configuring and maintaining network and rack layouts, writing Shell & Python utilities, ensuring our computer lab operates efficiently and effectively, and providing a reliable infrastructure for our engineering teams. Management Level Definition: Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues within the R&D lab, including hardware malfunctions, software errors, and network connectivity issues. Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems, ensuring minimal down time. Inventory Management: Oversee and maintain a comprehensive inventory of computer lab equipment, including servers, network devices, and peripherals. Ensure accurate tracking of assets, perform audits, and manage the procurement of new equipment as needed. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of all technical procedures, inventory records, and issue resolution steps. Prepare reports on lab usage, equipment status, and ongoing issues for management review. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower-level employees.
