The University of Iowa Health Care Supply Chain Department is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator. Duties include: Strategic Planning: Assist with implementation of HR practices/policies and programs within department or unit. May assist with promoting, advocating, and communicating changes within a unit. Coordinate administrative meetings with Supply Chain leadership and provide recommendations on best practice for attracting and retaining talent. Provide departmental training on important organizational initiatives to ensure a productive/safe workplace. Provide assistance to the departmental financial manager on employee job codes, salary information and years of service for budget planning. Make recommendations in alignment with organizational needs and goals. Analyze, monitor and report financial data, information and reports as it relates to HR. Advising/ Communication: Advise on human resource regulations, practices, policies and procedures; makes decisions and resolves issues within established guidelines or directs to the appropriate resource. Distribute appropriate communication materials to employees and leadership within unit/department. Support and communicate HR updates and initiatives to departmental staff and leadership. Manage employee absenteeism and advise leadership on course of action. Research, analyze and make recommendations on human resource regulations, practices, policies, procedures, applications and programs. Develop and initiate communication on human resources related materials. Provide training and resources to staff, supervisors, and leadership team on human resource matters. Talent Management & Engagement: Initiate and support recruitment and onboarding process. Assist in coordination of reward and recognition programs. May assist with employee engagement initiatives and surveys. Responsible for recruitment of all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees. Conduct new-employee orientations and write job postings. Analyze positions for appropriate classification and make recommendations to ensure job code compensation falls within market range. Provide guidance to hiring manager on best practices for recruitment, screening, and onboarding. Coordinate departmental meetings/training/team building events to cultivate a collaborative/engaged employee workforce. HR Program Administration & Operations: Gather and disseminate information and provide support for implementation of various HR initiatives as directed. Ensures approved processes are followed; resolves problems using prescribed remedies; explains routine operations/processes to staff; produces reports; may provide supervision of staff. Respond to questions from employees, supervisors and others that require independent judgement. Maintain department organizational charts and employee directory. Provide supervisors and employees with performance management tools and resources. Approve all HR Workflow transactions for Supply Chain related to staff and position management. Analyze departmental HR reports and recommend new approaches, procedures and policies. Compliance with Policies, Laws & Regulations: Review reports, track results and make recommendations. Record and document outcomes. Supports organizational compliance activities. Tracks compliance/training requirements. Research and investigate current policies, laws and regulations to ensure department compliance. Recommend new policies or revision to existing policies. Monitor and ensure compliance, including HR policies and procedures, I-9 and immigration, and records maintenance.
