About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist is responsible to perform and support HR related duties and functions on a professional level and works closely with the HR team. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, recruitment/employment, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance.

Requirements

3 years’ experience in Human Resources, in fast paced, high volume, customer driven environments.
2 years' experience processing payroll.
Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
Extensive knowledge of Federal and NY State Labor Laws, including FMLA, PFL, etc.
Broad knowledge across all HR Core Competencies—Benefits Administration, Employee Relations, Compliance, Recruitment, HRIS, Payroll Administration, etc.
Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently with significant latitude for independent judgement.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree a plus.
Bi-Lingual a plus (Spanish/English).
SHRM or HCRI certification a plus.
3 years of Human Resource experience as an Assistant, Coordinator, or Generalist.
2 years of payroll experience required.

Responsibilities

Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Full payroll processing, including generating payroll and custom reports as needed.
Supports the Director of HR with professional-level HR functions required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale, and training and development.
Handles complex and/or sensitive employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
Supports the HR function with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Leads Human Resources projects as assigned by HR Director.
Provides support to recruitment efforts. Acts as a resource for management and leadership recruitment needs.
Acts as a resource to other HR team members, including the Director and Safety Consultant.
Performs all other tasks/duties as may be assigned.
