About The Position

HTST Operator leads the product pasteurization during their shift and knowing their equipment is working properly. Having accurate documentation and a clean and well-maintained work area is integral in this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Understanding the overall process of the HTST system
  • Follow proper GMP’s
  • Understand how a CIP system works
  • Work consistently and effectively with maintenance and/or State inspector during ISDA audits
  • Maintain positive and effective communication during any situation
  • Be able to walk on wet floors, lift 75 lbs, and climb stairs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that we have a safe workplace. If a safety issue comes up contact your lead or Supervisor
  • Ensure proper documentation on charts. These are legal documents that need to be legible and accurate
  • Ensure that seals are in place and document any that are broken or missing. If not documented, or if one needs to be broken for any reason, notify supervisor or QA.
  • Ensure that CIPs are printed out immediately after washing is finished and check for proper trending of temp, flow, titration, and time. If any of these are in question, swab equipment. If swab fails, rewash.
  • Ensure proper cut in and cut out validation is done prior to production run. Document clearly on chart
  • Understand the flow of the product from Raw Milk Silo to Maturation tank, and from the Cream from HTST Separator to cream silo in order to aid in troubleshooting
  • Have a basic understanding of how a reverse osmosis membrane system works
  • Understand the flow of whey from KDB to the clarifiers, to the silos, and then to the Whey RO system
  • Understand how to start up the Whey RO system, bring it down, and CIP the system
  • Understanding the job of the separator, why we use it and how it works
  • Pull samples for QA to tests for Butterfat’s on skim and cream. If out of line, contact your supervisor
  • Maintain communication with KDB and Starter Room
  • Communicate with fruit room to ensure cream tote needs are filled
  • Sterilize cream totes prior to filling them
  • Enter in proper information for cream tote placards
  • Work with leads and maintenance to trouble shoot problems
