This role also applies established best practices, sound judgment, and a high level of customer service across all HR functional areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years of experience in a human resources functional area.
  • Proven success working both independently and collaboratively in a customer service focused environment.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and the ability to effectively support a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of assignments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, sound judgment, and discretion with sensitive issues.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workday and University of Texas at Austin employment policies and procedures.
  • Experience in a higher education environment, particularly supporting faculty and student workers.
  • Proven ability to anticipate departmental needs proactively and develop systems or workflows that streamline HR processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel and data management, including maintaining accurate tracking systems for high-volume HR transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full employment lifecycle and provide comprehensive human resources support to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Coordinate recruitment and hiring processes, employment changes, and separations.
  • Process pre-employment authorizations, ensure I-9 compliance, and monitor student employment eligibility requirements.
  • Serve as the department timekeeper, ensuring adherence to payroll deadlines and university and department policies.
  • Process fellowship and scholarship payments. Work closely with the student affairs staff on student funding matters.
  • Partner with central administration offices to facilitate related HR functions and resolve issues as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvement, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
