Purpose: The purpose of the Human Resources Generalist is to provide guidance, counsel and support to Branch Management and Employees on the interpretation and implementation of NEU’s HR policies & processes to ensure alignment, capability and engagement of all Branch employees in order to achieve NEU’s goals. This position will help support the Midwest Region’s HR Management Team and sit in a field role supporting 100 employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, including payroll and benefits administration
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems, including iCIMS and UKG Pro/WFM
  • Knowledge of I-9 compliance and E-Verify systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and onboarding, including job postings, screening, interviews, and orientation
  • Administer payroll, benefits, and HR systems (UKG Pro/WFM); ensure data accuracy and compliance
  • Perform I-9 verification and auditing; manage E-Verify processes
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and HR policies
  • Support employee relations by addressing concerns, conducting investigations, and advising managers
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies
  • Maintain HR records, forms, and personnel files
  • Manage workers’ compensation, FMLA, and leave processes
  • Coordinate temporary staffing agencies, including onboarding, tracking, and issue resolution
  • Assist with training, development programs, and performance management processes
