Buzzi Unicem USA. major US cement manufacturer, is looking for a Human Resouces Generlist to join our team at our Festus, MO Plant. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and leadership, ensuring HR processes align with organizational goals and foster a positive, productive workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in HR; industry experience beneficial but not necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
  • Familiar with recruiting and staffing practices
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with or the ability to learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Screen and route resumes, schedule and conduct interviews, oversee the testing process, recommend qualified candidates, present offers, secure acceptances and manage the pre-employment process (background checks and pre-employment physicals).

  • Collaborate with Department Managers to understand skills and competencies required for all positions.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Development professional in Corporate HR, as well as on-site management team, to analyze Performance Reviews, identifying individual and group training needs.
  • Design sourcing strategies.
  • Identify the most efficient and cost-effective recruitment methods.
  • Manage the requisition process, including creation, posting, and hiring in the Applicant Tracking System (iCIMS)
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors.
  • Plan and conduct new hire orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices.
  • Participate in the succession planning process.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest level of integrity, professionalism, fairness and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong union labor relations by increasing involvement through regular onsite presence, attending monthly union meetings, and addressing labor concerns proactively to support a collaborative work environment.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with local schools and community organizations to support talent pipeline development, workforce training initiatives, recruiting efforts, and sustainability through volunteer and community engagement programs.
  • Provide support to employees on FMLA, benefits, short-term disability, attendance policies, internal job postings, and participate in disciplinary and grievance processes as needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the plant, workers’ compensation carrier, workers’ compensation legal counsel, and corporate insurance manager.
