About The Position

The HR Intern role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is a paid, full-time, temporary role responsible for developing a broad knowledge of the Company in order to further build the OSJL brand. All interns will learn and benefit from weekly program educational experiences, as well as in-person and virtual networking opportunities. Each intern will give a final presentation to Ocean State Job Lot leadership and ownership at the conclusion of the internship program.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program is required.
  • Strong academic credentials are required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite and ability to learn and use Google platforms.
  • Must have reliable transportation to attend program educational experiences at different Company locations.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule as determined by area leadership.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to take unpaid time off as well as to be flexible around the program end date.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow associates to gain an understanding of department roles.
  • Assist associates with projects and programs in furtherance of department objectives.
  • Participate in the development of department goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Acquire an understanding of the business environment, conduct, compliance, and ethics of a retail organization.
  • Participate in weekly educational programming and development workshops designed to enhance professional skills and industry knowledge.
  • Attend in-person and virtual events to build relationships across the Company.
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation to OSJL executive leadership and ownership, summarizing key projects, insights, and achievements.
  • Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions.
