HVAC Service Technician
About The Position
We are hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician to support residential and light commercial service operations in Birmingham, Alabama. This full-time position is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting abilities and the ability to diagnose and repair heating and cooling systems independently. In this role, you will identify mechanical and electrical issues, perform repairs, and deliver dependable HVAC service to homeowners and small commercial customers throughout Birmingham. Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of HVAC service and repair experience
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, airflow principles, and diagnostics
- EPA certification required (additional certifications preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and manufacturer schematics
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer communication and service abilities
- Ability to work independently while maintaining safety and quality standards
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems
- Service equipment including furnaces, condensers, heat pumps, air handlers, and related components
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections to improve system efficiency and lifespan
- Identify repair needs and recommend repairs, replacements, or system upgrades when appropriate
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety standards
- Maintain accurate service documentation, including repair notes and parts usage
- Communicate findings and maintenance recommendations clearly to customers
- Coordinate with installation teams and office staff to ensure efficient scheduling and workflow
