About The Position

As an HVAC Technician at JLL, you'll play a critical role in ensuring optimal performance and reliability of complex mechanical systems across institutional facilities. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with preventative maintenance strategies to support building operations that directly impact our clients' business continuity and occupant comfort. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on HVAC experience OR successful completion of a recognized 4-year apprenticeship program
  • Valid Stationary Engineer License (current and in good standing)
  • EPA Universal Certification (Section 608)
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with building automation systems (BAS) including basic troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Physical capability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50+ lbs), work at heights, and perform duties in various environmental conditions including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, equipment manuals, and control schematics.
  • To be considered for this position, candidates must be current members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic control systems, instruments, and automatic damper operations in commercial or institutional settings
  • Experience with air balancing, testing, and adjusting (TAB) procedures for large-scale HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with multiple building automation system platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium)
  • Background working with water treatment systems and steam distribution networks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues systematically
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, or other institutional facility environments
  • Relevant manufacturer certifications or continuing education in HVAC technologies

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems using specialized testing equipment to ensure optimal HVAC performance
  • Troubleshoot electrical components on chillers, rooftop units, fan systems, and other HVAC equipment by interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals
  • Install, repair, and rebuild mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, and various HVAC components using appropriate construction and specialized tools
  • Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS), identifying system issues and implementing corrective actions to optimize building performance
  • Execute comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all HVAC equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards
  • Service water and steam systems, including adjustments to pneumatic controls, automatic dampers, air flows, and air balancing for large institutional environments
  • Respond to service calls and equipment failures with urgency, minimizing downtime and maintaining continuity of building operations
