About The Position

VMG is seeking an experienced Hydronic Diagnostic Technician to support our growing hydronics division. This role is highly focused on advanced troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and performance optimization of hydronic heating and cooling systems in commercial and industrial environments. The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver with deep hydronic knowledge who excels at identifying root causes and delivering reliable solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with hydronic heating and cooling systems (commercial preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of boilers (hot water and/or steam), pumps, piping systems, and hydronic components
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillset with the ability to identify root causes
  • Experience working with controls and building automation systems preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Boiler Operator License or Hydronics Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Backflow or related mechanical certifications
  • Controls or BAS-related training

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in hydronic systems including boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and piping networks
  • Analyze system performance issues related to flow, temperature, pressure, controls, and efficiency
  • Perform system testing, startups, and support commissioning activities
  • Identify failures related to mechanical components, controls, and hydronic design
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, sequence of operations, and control diagrams
  • Provide clear diagnostic findings and recommendations to project managers, service managers, and clients
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and diagnostic reports
  • Coordinate with field teams, controls technicians, and other trades as needed
  • Follow all safety protocols and company quality standards
