Job Description Will provide patient consultation as requested. Operates, monitors, and maintains the hyperbaric support systems with an established treatment plan. Patient population examples include, but not limited to, bubbles of air in blood vessels, and wounds that will not heal, a result of diabetes or radiation injury. Responsible to perform daily maintenance as necessary for hyperbaric systems and equipment. Monitors and tracks all patient information, activity, and report therapy results to providers. Will demonstrate good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to physically meet the strenuous demands required of the position and workload. Qualifications Complete an approved hyperbaric technician training course when eligible. The National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) has in place an approval process for these courses. Certification exam in Hyperbaric Technology is offered in conjunction with all of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) Chapter. Those who successfully complete formal training in hyperbaric technology become eligible to take the Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) examination, upon completion of a defined preceptorship period. Minimum of two years’ experience in clinical licensed or certified position working in a clinical setting. Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) from the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered license as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with the state board where the practice is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. In this position, per the NBDHMT, employees hired prior to July 1, 2014, as a Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) were eligible to perform the hyperbaric technician role.
