About The Position

This position is part of the Electrical and Instrumentation Division of BLS Electrical (BLSE) and has a full range of responsibilities that include but are not limited to installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems. The I&E Journeyman will be responsible for performing skilled advanced Journeyman level work doing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial oil related facilities. The I&E Journeyman will provide general electrical repair and services with an emphasis on quality of work, efficiency and following all applicable local and national codes.

Requirements

  • Expert use of hand and power tools, test instruments (ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes), conduit benders, etc., to install, maintain, and troubleshoot I&E systems
  • Rapidly diagnose malfunctions in electrical/electronic systems and devise effective corrective actions
  • Read and apply wiring diagrams, blueprints, and job specifications to ensure accurate installations
  • Vigilant adherence to OSHA, NEC, and all applicable local and national electrical codes; proactively identify hazards and recommend corrective measures
  • Meticulous in routing conduit and wiring, securing fittings, tightening connections, and documenting work to prevent rework and ensure system integrity
  • Clear, concise verbal and written skills to report status, train apprentices, and advise management on operational safety and efficiency
  • Collaborate with foremen, engineers, and peers; mentor less-experienced workers and support a cooperative job-site environment
  • Quickly adjust to evolving project scopes, new technologies, and changing site conditions while maintaining high productivity
  • Plan and sequence work efficiently, order materials, manage downtime, and meet project milestones
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or higher level. Electrical schooling preferred.
  • Experience: Five (5) years electrical experience in a Oil Field & Automation environment preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License and a CO Electrical Journeyman License Required.
  • Skills/Equipment: Able to communicate effectively (i.e., reading, writing, speaking) in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
  • Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
