About The Position

The United Way of Greater Kingsport seeks versatile community impact manager to lead impact and education initiatives to improve lives in our community so all can thrive. This position offers an opportunity to be involved in engaging the Greater Kingsport, TN community to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community. Serves as lead staff position for United Way of Greater Kingsport's (UWGK) superb education initiatives and works collaboratively on a variety of overall impact projects. Oversees UWGK's education initiatives including the early grade reading initiative, United WE READ, AveNew: youth drug education and prevention, the UWGK Children and Youth Vision Council and the Afterschool Network collaboration efforts. Provides collaboration and leadership for various overall impact projects include but not limited to the following: early childcare programming, promotion of the ALICE study (Asset Limited, Income Constrained Employed), public policy advocacy, promotion of volunteer initiatives including Week of Caring, Volunteer United, Leaderboard and Learn United programs; assistance with biannual Citizen's Review Process as well as growing grant support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree with preference of focus in education, social services, non-profit management or related degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred 3 years' experience in related field
  • Demonstrated leadership in working with staff and volunteers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of time management skills and initiative
  • Valid driver's license & proof of insurance
