Middle School - In-House Substitute Teacher/Homework Club Facilitator Nueva School is seeking a self-motivated individual to serve as an in-house substitute teacher/homework club facilitator for the middle school division at the school. The in-house substitute teacher's work typically centers on implementing lesson plans in a range of classrooms, supervising recesses and lunchtimes, and supporting other staff on projects or other duties when not in the classroom. This role supports students in grades 5–8 during after-school homework time, providing supervision, academic guidance, and a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, enjoys working with middle school students, communicates effectively with colleagues, and brings experience with classroom or group management. This is a full-time role that follows the academic calendar. Typical work hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Middle School In-House Sub/Homework Club Facilitator. A Day in the Life As an In-House Substitute and Homework Club Facilitator , your day supports students across both the academic day and after-school program in a way that is structured, relational, and student-centered. During the school day, you step into classrooms across a range of grades and subject areas, implementing substitute teaching plans and maintaining a respectful, calm learning environment. You supervise recess, lunch, and other duties with close attention to student safety and well-being, and you communicate with teachers and staff to ensure continuity and a positive classroom experience. On some days, you may also support special projects or serve as a chaperone for middle school day-long field trips. In the afternoon, you transition to facilitating Homework Club , where you supervise and support middle school students from 3:15 to 6:00 pm . You create a quiet, welcoming, and kind space for self-directed learning, helping students manage their time and stay focused. On days when students do not have homework, you lead activities or games that build community and engagement. You serve as a key point of contact during Homework Club, communicating with families, managing attendance and billing documentation, coordinating with the security and bus teams for safe pickup, and responding to emails through the extended-day program. You manage supplies and materials, maintain accurate records, and act as the primary responder in any health or safety situation, communicating promptly with administrators and support teams as needed. Throughout the day, you are a steady, caring presence for students—helping ensure they feel supported, safe, and set up for success in both their learning and their relationships.
