YOUR ROLEWith minimal supervision, this position is responsible for assisting the Independent Contractor Relations Manager with implementation and facilitation of field and corporate level policies, procedures, training, auditing programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations and the Independent Contractors Agreement (the “IC Agreement”).  Position designs and maintains the centralized Independent Contractor Relations database also utilized by many CEVA departments (i.e., Safety and Compliance, Regulatory, CEVA Field Personnel, Risk etc.) to track and house vital contractual requirements.  Position will assist in the investigation of complaints regarding the contractual business relationship between the Company and the Contractors pursuant to the Independent Contractors Agreement (the “IC Agreement”) and ancillary memorandum and guidelines issued pursuant thereto. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Minimum three years related experience in similar role in transportation or supply chain related industry
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors.
  • PC literate.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and specific job related software applications.
  • Knowledgeable in the administration of DOT Regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of Independent Contractor Law (IRS, Workers Compensation, 49CFR376, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state and local transportation safety laws and regulations.
  • Strong administrative background with proven organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a confident and professional manner.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while following established policy and procedures.
  • Must be a strong team player.

Responsibilities

  • Meet legal, contractual and industry requirements.  Also responsible for the implementation and facilitation of field and corporate level policies, procedures, training and auditing programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and the Independent Contractors Agreement (the “IC Agreement”).  This can at times require in-person visits, which at time requires travel to a CEVA U.S. location.
  • Independently research and assist in the resolution of contractor issues and complaints made by the contractor, company employees, or a third party and issue corrective action with little to no supervision.  Issues are appropriately and fairly resolved in a timely manner and escalated to next level management as appropriate.
  • Maintain the Independent Contractor Relations SharePoint database that houses complaints and investigations with current, concise and factual data by tracking information regarding IC Agreement, amendment, corrective action, safety compliance violations, notifications, claims etc.
  • Assist with legal litigation. Conduct investigation of required information and documentation to provide CEVA’s Risk Department, internal and external counsel to complete required litigation requests.
  • Act as a neutral party to protect CEVA’s Independent Contractor business model to ensure compliance by both CEVA personnel and the Independent Contractors.
  • Independently review and investigate claims reported by the Risk Department, issue corrective action (to include support documentation) and authorize chargebacks and deductions from the IC’s settlement.
  • Design SharePoint website content to capture the required contractual requirements utilized by other departments as it relates to the: IC Agreement, amendments, corrective action, safety compliance violations, notifications, claims etc.  Design permission includes the ability to view, add, update, delete, approve, and customize.
  • Protect CEVA’s financial interest and contractual rights by managing IC negative balances owed to CEVA and terminate contract prior to cost incurred by CEVA.
  • Conduct contractual audits and report findings to upper management in an effort to protect the IC business model (i.e., collection and release of escrow and all deductions, chargebacks etc.)
  • Assist Department Manager as needed with contractor relations related projects.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Answer incoming calls, voicemails and e-mails, Order, monitor and maintain the department’s office supplies.
