As a crew member you will work with Forest Service hydrologists, civil engineers, fisheries biologists and ecologists implementing a stream restoration project on the Chugach National Forest. This is a multi-disciplinary position that will have opportunities to gain experience with a variety of natural resource fields such as hydrology, engineering, fisheries, and botany. Successful applicant will be working within both an active construction site and mining area. This position is an opportunity to develop skills in implementing stream restoration techniques. Experience in engineering survey and layout, surface and groundwater monitoring, upland and wetland vegetation is desirable but not required. Established methods, techniques, and procedures are being utilized and can be taught. The project site is accessed via driving, hiking both on and off trail, wading in and crossing stream, and mountain biking. The field conditions often include wet and inclement weather, working around heavy equipment, working in bear country, and hiking in uneven terrain.
