About The Position

The Pine Flat Dam & Lake project is spectacularly situated at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills on the Kings River in Fresno County. This prime location offers incredible access to natural wonders, being approximately 2 hours from the majestic Yosemite National Park, 3 hours from the beautiful Monterey coastline and 1 hour from Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks. The area provides a rich variety of housing options, from rural to suburban, and countless recreation opportunities including backpacking, hunting, fishing, off-roading, camping, boating, and hiking. We are seeking a high-performing and motivated individual with a passion for providing quality public service to join our dynamic team.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for driving a government vehicle.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Comfortable operating hand tools and some equipment (training will be provided).
  • Ability to wear a personal floatation device for activities on or near water.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience in public service, interpretation, or maintenance. A strong motivation and willingness to learn in a dynamic outdoor setting is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Public Safety & Interpretation: Engage in public outreach to present water safety programs, both on and off-site. As a crucial part of our Recreation mission, you will be a key team member in promoting a safe environment for all visitors.
  • Facility Maintenance: Conduct daily checks and maintenance of water safety equipment deployed in the field. Perform inspections and upkeep of recreation facilities to ensure they remain safe and accessible for public use.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Assist with critical habitat improvement projects, help protect threatened and endangered species, and manage invasive species to promote healthy and sustainable public lands and waters. Daily work activities will be planned and coordinated by the Lead Ranger and Deputy OPM, and supervised by the Operations Project Manager.
  • Simple tool cleaning & gear preparation
  • Participating in occasional outreach or training support
  • Additional opportunities for other equipment training and use may also be available, providing a chance to expand your skillset.

Benefits

  • $500 weekly living allowance
  • $75 weekly commuting allowance
  • $1,000 monthly housing allowance (4 total disbursements)
