Position Overview: Industrial Designers are formally trained and have a variety of skill sets; they are expected to excel in the product development. Skills include but would not be limited to the following: hand sketching, computer modeling, two dimensional layout, illustration, physical model building and computer rendering. Designers should be articulate, well-spoken and able to manage tasks efficiently. Additionally, they should be able to work with a wide variety of people such as marketers, product managers, salespeople, engineers and manufacturers within a time driven development cycle. In cases, the Industrial Designer may be called upon to engage in field research and collate field results. This position should be able to receive inputs from market research, trends or ethnographic study to help develop their product ideas. Industrial Designers work under the direction of the Director of Industrial Design. The Industrial Designer II (ID 2) is a non-supervisory position but the expectation is that some small projects and tasks would be independently managed with other team members.
