About The Position

Our team of innovative engineers and scientists is committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in rocket propulsion. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a talented and driven Industrial Engineer to join our team. As an Industrial Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of a solid rocket motor propellant manufacturing facility. You will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes, implementing lean and Six Sigma principles, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Your efforts will directly support mission-critical manufacturing and production campaigns.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with solid rocket motor propellant manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and planning manufacturing equipment layouts within a facility using lean, six sigma techniques.
  • Experience in conducting time studies and working with the shop floor to implement changes and improvements
  • Experience creating discrete modeling simulations – FlexSim experience preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, process & quality standards
  • Experience with support systems such as but not limited to hydraulic systems, compressed air systems, electronic controls and power systems
  • Excellent analytical and math skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required; Master's degree in engineering can substitute for experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial or process engineering related field is desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and planning manufacturing equipment layouts within a building
  • Designing and planning product movements between buildings
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and streamline operations
  • Utilize Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate defects in production processes
  • Train and mentor staff on lean practices and Six Sigma techniques to foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Conduct time studies and create discrete modeling simulations to optimize workflow and resource allocation
  • Conduct trade studies to develop new and improved manufacturing processes for solid rocket motor manufacturing
  • Establishing safe procedures for individuals workstations with hand tools in the presence of energetics
  • Specifying equipment to support production,
  • Troubleshooting safety, quality and cost improvement opportunity associated with manufacturing processes
  • Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Estimating new product production cost
