The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of assigned complex Industrial Operations IT systems and processes across a larger scope of business operations. This position is also responsible for assuring that IT solutions meet the needs of the business operations, meet regulatory requirements, adhere to Information Systems (I/S) and Industrial Operations IT standards and do not negatively impact the operations. One of the following positions is available: Industrial Operations Associate Software Engineer, Industrial Operations Software Engineer, or Industrial Operations Intermediate Software Engineer. The position offered is contingent upon the qualifications and work experience of the candidate.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management or in an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of IT support or relevant business experience
  • Excellent technical knowledge of supported applications and reporting tools
  • Excellent knowledge of personal computer, printer, network configuration (Local Area Network and Wi-Fi), terminology, and architecture
  • Excellent knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle and Project Management best practices
  • Good knowledge of relevant industry and regulatory standards and regulations (Currently our operations are regulated by OSHA, USDA, FDA, FDACS, and Georgia Department of Agriculture, DOT as well as Kosher and organic certifying organizations.)
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and statistical data analysis
  • Broad knowledge of annual capital budgeting process

  • 5 years of Industrial Operations systems experience or experience working closely with or supporting Industrial Operations systems
  • 3 years of experience supporting IT systems at Publix
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain business systems and processes that interface with his/her assigned Industrial Operations systems and processes
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial Operations strategy, business initiatives and plans for supported areas
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Operations and assigned system standards and policies that must be upheld
  • Very strong knowledge of Publix Information Technology policies and processes such as software licensing policies, information protection policy, hardware and software (HW/SW) assessment, access, and HW/SW request process
  • Strong knowledge of business relationships between various departments, department structures and high-level knowledge of Industrial Operations' impact on Publix Retail and Support departments
  • Knowledge of Publix policies and guidelines
  • Excellent knowledge of Industrial Operations safety rules and practices
  • Excellent knowledge of Publix and Industrial Operations data sources
  • Excellent knowledge of Industrial Operations' business systems and processes for assigned areas
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain business systems and processes that interface with his/her assigned Industrial Operations systems and processes
