About The Position

Pontiac Metal Center is one of the lead stamping and sheet metal fabrication sites supporting GM’s vision of ZERO crashes, ZERO emissions, and ZERO congestion. Pontiac Metal Center is a major partner on Stamping and Sheet Metal Fabrication to multiple GM sites (Factory Zero, Flint Assembly, Artisan Center, Bowling Green, Wentzville among others). Pontiac Flex Fab supports multiple GM plants and other partners with sheet metal formed components using state of the art laser cutting, bending and other secondary processes. As a Industrial & Process Engineer you will be a key team member towards Flex Fab operations and growth.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another relevant filed or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency on CAD Tools (NX, SolidWorks, Catia) application on Manufacturing Environments
  • 3-5 years of experience as Process or Industrial Engineer with a focus on Fabrication operations on a high mix environment
  • Understanding on Industry 4.0 tools application for Manufacturing Operations
  • Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
  • Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed.
  • Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer and people centric.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on Fabrication technologies such as Laser Cutting, Laser Welding, Bending, Sheet Metal forming, Knowledge on software assisted manufacturing tools such as CAM, Manufacturing Execution software, Process planning, digital manufacturing
  • Experience on Advanced Process development for sheet metal forming technologies

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Industrial and Process Engineer specialist for Flex Fab operation thru new parts assessment and optimization of current parts in production.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturing verification for Process planning activities along with Flex Fab Execution team.
  • Support Production rollout of new parts, engineering changes and process improvements.
  • Provide training to production and maintenance team on Flexible Fabrication technologies (Cutting, Bending, Welding, Assembly, Manufacturing Execution, Standardized work).
  • Active role on daily usage of Manufacturing Execution Software to support production planning, process plan development and daily operation.
  • Lead Capacity assessment for new and current part allocation & prepare monthly/yearly work load charts
  • Support launch and operational readiness for new parts numbers
  • Support Cost Engineer with providing costing inputs such as Cycle times, utilized area, estimated uptime,
  • Work with Production and Engineering team on Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence and DFSS projects
  • Support Process Studies (Cycle time / Manpower / Floor Space) for engineering changes and new parts
  • Participate on Flex Fab Design Check in (New Parts)
  • Work with Shift Leader on Uptime/Throughput monitoring and data mining for main opportunities
  • Coach GPM&C Usage, Monitor, and improve codes
  • Lead Biweekly Throughput Improvement Meetings for Flex Fab
  • Lead GMS Production Readiness meetings at Production Floor
  • Provide a safe work environment & follow all policies
  • Provide plant floor troubleshooting, training and problem solving to root cause analysis.
