Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Operator
About The Position
We are looking for an experienced Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Operator to take ownership of the wastewater pretreatment system at our Gahanna, Ohio reconditioning facility. This is a hands-on, accountable role for someone who understands industrial wastewater, compliance, and running equipment the right way, every day. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience operating industrial wastewater pretreatment systems
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, including pH adjustment, chemical precipitation, and oil separation
- Ability to conduct basic laboratory testing and interpret results
- Understanding of environmental regulations related to industrial discharges (Clean Water Act, POTW permits)
- Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with plant personnel
Nice To Haves
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, metal finishing, or industrial washing operations
- Familiarity with POTW pretreatment programs and inspections
- Wastewater or environmental certifications or coursework
- Experience working in regulated industrial environments
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the onsite industrial wastewater pretreatment system
- Monitor pH, flow, metals, oils, and other regulated parameters
- Perform sampling, testing, documentation, and recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal discharge requirements
- Coordinate with EHS, operations, and maintenance teams
- Troubleshoot system upsets and take corrective action quickly
- Manage chemicals, sludge handling, and routine maintenance
- Prepare the system for inspections and audits and participate as needed
- Drive continuous improvement in reliability, cost, and compliance
