In collaboration with the manager/director of Performance Improvement is responsible for assisting in the coordination, integration, and implementation of the organization wide performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with company policies and accreditation standards while maintaining CDC, OSHA, and other federal, state or local regulatory agencies standards or directives. Activities include but are not limited to chart reviews, data abstraction for CMS, NHSN, and other outcomes studies, and staff education. Develop, and adapt as necessary, information systems to report on key performance indicators to ensure that Supervisor/ managers/Director can measure and monitor and continuously improve performance. The Performance Improvement Coordinator- Infection control is also responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of infection. Acts as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients, volunteers and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices. Coordinates all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff and hospital employees, as and when needed. The role is responsible for supervising auditors, supporting the design, development, analysis, interpretation and presentation of statistical data to support the many performance functions. Operational responsibilities include but not limited to interpret and provide accurate and timely information to Director and senior executive team in a format that is easily understood and relevant to the decision-making process. This will involve supervision and receipt of information to analyze, interpret and present in an appropriate format for process improvement and timely submission to CMS- NHSN and or other regulatory agencies. Develops and implements sound practices and audit controls, establishes quality control procedures, and specifies effective statistical process controls. PI coordinator-IC will conduct internal audits, reviewing supporting documentation, and appraise preparedness of the auditors. Required to work closely with colleagues in producing information analysis. Able to coach and mentor the Infection Control Coordinators and data abstractors for retro, concurrent and real-time monitoring.
