About The Position

The Role: As an Information Security Specialist at General Motors, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our automotive computer systems and embedded technologies against cyber threats. You will contribute to the security of our innovative vehicles and connected services through proactive measures and problem-solving within a collaborative team environment. What You’ll Do: Design, implement, and maintain robust cybersecurity measures for automotive computer systems and embedded vehicle architectures. Conduct security assessments, vulnerability testing, and penetration testing on in-vehicle software and hardware components. Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, applying security principles within the Waterfall Model. Participate in group problem-solving sessions to identify, analyze, and resolve complex security incidents and issues. Monitor security systems for anomalies and respond effectively to potential breaches or attacks. Research and stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies relevant to the automotive industry. Contribute to the development of secure boot processes, secure communication protocols, and cryptographic solutions for automotive systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on Automotive Computer Systems and Embedded Systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying security principles within the Waterfall Model software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and Group Problem Solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, protocols, and technologies, including encryption, authentication, and access control.
  • Experience with security testing tools and methodologies (e.g., fuzzing, reverse engineering, static/dynamic analysis).
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards and regulations related to cybersecurity (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
