About The Position

Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Technician is responsible for the daily monitoring, installation, and maintenance of all Gaming Commission computerized systems, including but not limited to: Troubleshooting and upgrading of computer hardware, software, Gaming Commission networking infrastructure. IT Technicians assess user training needs and train users in effective use of applications, will offer recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions, prepares documentation and provides user assistance to Commission personnel, and perform related work as required. Systems include, but are not limited to, the Gaming Commission's Local Area Network (LAN), Digital Recording Equipment, Virtual Matrix Solutions, CCTV Infrastructure, external network connections with the Yakama Legends Casino and Tribal Administration, proximity access control systems utilized to secure the gaming operation(s). The IT Technician is to administer, perform installations, and perform maintenance on Gaming Commission networking equipment; Windows based networking equipment, and Digital Video networking equipment. The IT Technician shall also be responsible for commission website design and maintenance, installation and wiring of all network infrastructure and related equipment as directed by the IT Manager. Stay current with technological trends related to the Yakama Nation Gaming Commission environment which includes, but not limited to, the previously stated systems and technology.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of sensitive records management.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft Office products including: Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, and Power Point; and ability to learn the ticketing system.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks under stress and pressure while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability and willingness to learn technology used for computer hardware, software, and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, networking systems, printers, and modems.
  • Ability to complete assigned duties and ensure work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance with all policies and procedures.
  • Ability to direct the public to the appropriate department and/or staff member in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to work closely with all YNGC staff to ensure a positive supportive work environment and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, supervisors/managers, elected officials and the public.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new systems that will be implemented by the Gaming Commission as approved by the Information Technology Manager.
  • Ability to shift from working independently to a team environment as job duties dictates.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks and work assignments.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology, Computer science or related field, with three years of progressive work in general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for required qualifications.
  • Ability to pass an annual thorough background investigation.
  • Must be physically fit with the capabilities of lifting 50lbs and performing physically demanding tasks for long hours.
  • Must commit to continuous training as deemed necessary to fulfill the demands of the position.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software installations, upgrades, configurations of IT Manager approved Operating Systems and applications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of all related Gaming Commission Equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain CCTV Cameras and related equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain all networking equipment including but not limited to: Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Wireless Access points, Brocade Switches, etc.
  • Install, Configure, and Maintain all related computer related items including but not limited to: Printers, External Hard disk drives, Scanners, Copiers, etc.
  • Resolve and repair computers and networking related issues including but not limited to: monitors, servers, internal computer components (motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc.), external computer components (Printers, scanners,).
  • Install, configure, and maintain shared network devices including but not limited to: Network based printers, hard drive arrays.
  • Configure, maintain, and perform updates to the Gaming Commission Servers including but not limited to: Adding and removing users via Active Directory, Creating windows shared directories; securing windows shared directories with appropriate permissions.
  • Utilize ticketing system or related work documentation software including but not limited to: close work orders, add notes to work orders assigned to the IT Technician, add resolution or requested documents to the work order.
  • Administration of the ticketing system to include but not limited to: Creation of reports, asset Tracking, Work order assignments.
  • Create, Modify, and Update passwords and accounts in systems to include but not limited to: Windows Active Directory, ID Point, ticketing system, Genetec, WASP.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Gaming Commission databases including but not limited to: ID Point, SQL, Microsoft Access, ticketing system, Genetec, WASP.
  • Organize and maintain Information Technology (IT) files as needed, to include: Maintaining all IT staff time and attendance files in an organized manner prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date leave audit records for IT Staff.
  • Compile, submit, and document requisitions and purchases made by the IT Department for operational needs.
  • Cooperate with the IT Manager in order to meet specific deadlines for special projects and meetings as they arise by binding presentations/reports, drafting correspondence, assisting with research, and replicating sensitive documentation as directed.
  • Ensures there is an adequate inventory of IT department supplies to control cost and minimize waste, notifying the IT Manager regarding discrepancies.
  • Verify the receipt of all supplies and equipment purchased by the IT Department and distributes items to appropriate IT Department personnel.
  • Maintain IT dept. storage inventory.
  • Will track and maintain an accurate record of all IT department assets.
  • Reconcile documentation with the Administration departments' documentation to reflect items that are covered by insurance, capital purchases, etc.
  • Maintain and promote strict standards of confidentiality and professionalism; will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • May be assigned new projects and tasks not included in the description, or to assist other Gaming Commission staff as requested by the IT Manager; ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
