About The Position

The Information Technology (IT) Manager provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and hands-on technical support for a multi-site nonprofit organization serving approximately 300 users across four central Virginia locations. This role oversees the technology team, infrastructure, and enterprise systems while also maintaining direct break/fix and end-user support responsibilities in Charlottesville. The IT Manager ensures secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology services aligned with the organization’s mission.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience.
  • 3+ years of IT leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows PC environments.
  • Experience administering Google Workspace (Google Enterprise).
  • Experience managing multi-site network infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and break/fix expertise.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute IT strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead and supervise the IT team, including service desk and infrastructure staff.
  • Manage IT policies, standards, and documentation.
  • Develop and manage annual IT budget.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions to improve operations and service delivery.
  • Provide support for the use of data for decision-making throughout the organization.
  • Oversee Windows-based PC environment in addition to iPads and Chromebook devices and manage endpoint lifecycle for all devices.
  • Administer Google Workspace (Google Enterprise) including: User provisioning and deprovisioning Security policies and MFA Email, Drive, and collaboration tools Admin Console management
  • Manage network infrastructure across all sites: Firewalls, switches, wireless networks VPN connectivity between locations ISP/vendor coordination VOIP services
  • Oversee backup systems, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity.
  • Ensure cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, and compliance controls.
  • Ensure consistent IT operations to all VIA locations.
  • Travel periodically to all VIA locations as needed.
  • Coordinate remote support coverage for distributed users.
  • Standardize hardware, software, and network configurations across sites.
  • Provide direct break/fix support for: Windows PCs and laptops iPads and/or Chromebooks Printers and peripherals Google Workspace user issues Network connectivity problems
  • Image, deploy, and maintain PC-based devices.
  • Troubleshoot hardware failures and coordinate warranty repairs.
  • Maintain asset inventory and lifecycle planning.
  • Support conference room technology and A/V systems.
  • Manage relationships with managed service providers, telecom providers, and technology vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and renewals.
  • Lead security risk assessments and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Oversee patch management and endpoint security tools.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit and donor-related data protection standards.
