About The Position

The Information Technology Technician I is responsible for maintaining devices, projectors, and other technology throughout the school. The scope of support includes, but is not limited to, analysis of basic network connectivity, accessing and modifying user and computer objects within Active Directory (AD), Microsoft 365 and Azure AD and the use of job specific software and hardware.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of network components (NIC, DNS, VPN, cabling)
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office 365 admin portal and Active Directory
  • Basic knowledge of information security, databases and network, technical support, and business software systems
  • Firm understanding of installation, configuration, and support of Windows OS
  • Familiarity with setup and deployment of Chromebooks
  • Understanding of Anti-virus protection and security software at an organizational level
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills – ability to identify the cause of an issue and implement a solution
  • Embrace a readiness to learn and be coachable within a fast-paced IT environment
  • Highly organized
  • Capable of performing job functions in a semi-autonomous environment as well as taking direction from leadership and working within a team setting
  • Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask proficiently while handling frequent interruptions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening, verbal and non-verbal communication, problem-solving, and assertiveness
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support school events and network
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology (preferred)
  • 12 months experience in a similar position

Responsibilities

  • Base level Help Desk troubleshooting: existing hardware, software, and systems
  • Facilitate and resolve end user issues and questions by providing “Best Practice” solutions at the deskside user support level
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability
  • Perform quarterly maintenance on all Chromebooks
  • Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
  • Perform replacements/upgrades, ensuring that new equipment is fully functional and that users are satisfied
  • Perform problem analysis and documentation of support resolutions
  • Perform post resolution follow-ups within a ticketing system to ensure a “best practice” resolution solved the issue.
  • Maintain orderly spaces in the IT Office and IT spaces
  • Prepare and configure all end user equipment for all students standardized testing, faculty and staff
  • IT includes hands-on support for the following: printers and copiers, audiovisual equipment, bells, security cameras and phones
  • Assist IT Manager in daily tasks and duties and planning for future needs: Evaluate and recommend purchases (hardware and software) for new projects and expansion
  • Track aging of equipment and schedule maintenance/replacement
  • Track software licenses, users and renewal dates
  • Physical lifting of computer system equipment
  • Pushing / Pulling Laptop Carts
  • Altering ports, jacks, switches and cables
  • Reconfiguring workstations and room lay-outs in respect to technology needs
  • All administrative duties involve other duties as needed

  • No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week.
