About The Position

Regions Hospital is looking for an outstanding Pharmacy Technician Supervisor for our Inpatient team. This person will join an existing Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to work together providing general leadership and direction for all technician-related activities, such as coordinating workflow, scheduling, evaluation process, new hire training, and general direction of technician staff for the accomplishment of department goals. This individual will work under the direction and/or supervision of the pharmacy managers to assist in the provision of effective, appropriate and safe pharmacy distribution services, customer services and related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Ability to effectively recruit, interview, and evaluate prospective technician staff while complying with all labor contracts and regulations.
  • Ability to proactively motivate, supervise, and train technician staff in assigned functions.
  • Ability to effectively design, direct, and evaluate pharmacy technician workflow to ensure the provision of appropriate and safe pharmaceutical services.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate pharmacy technician performance and give ongoing feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to coordinate scheduling for adequately maintained staffing in compliance with all organizational labor practices and arrangements while minimizing overtime.
  • Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and implement fixes.
  • Ability to work independently yet collaboratively, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Working knowledge of controlled substance diversion monitoring and prevention processes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform all assigned technician functions for Inpatient pharmacy practice.
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission/Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services standards, medication management standards, and Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Administration regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or any combination of experience and post-high school education to equal four years.
  • Four years of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, community, or institutional pharmacy.
  • Current unrestricted registration as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy AND
  • Current certification through either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National HealthCareer Association.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Business management skills.
  • Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians.
