About The Position

The Inside Sales Engineer plays a key role in supporting the sales process by leveraging their technical knowledge and communication skills to assist customers and internal teams develop proposals. Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and sales assistance to customers inquiring about industrial control systems, automation products, and related equipment. This role involves understanding customer needs, offering solutions, preparing quotes, and collaborating with outside sales teams. The position requires a balance of sales expertise, customer service, and technical knowledge concerning electrical components, automation, PLCs, drives, safety, and control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial controls, automation, and electrical components (e.g., PLCs, VFDs, Servos, Sensors, HMIs)
  • Familiarity with key automation brands (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proven ability to understand industrial control needs and develop corresponding solutions
  • Experience in inside sales or technical support, preferably in industrial automation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple inquiries and quotes simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with effective documentation skills for sales opportunities
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office software

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CRM systems (Acumatica, Salesforce, SAP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industrial standards and regulations (e.g., UL, CE, IEC)
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)

Responsibilities

  • Customer Support & Sales: Address inbound inquiries about industrial control systems, including upgrades and new designs
  • Provide technical guidance and prepare quotes and proposals for automation solutions
  • Select suitable products to meet customer requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of industrial control products (e.g., PLCs from Rockwell, Siemens; Drives from Rockwell, ABB, Siemens, Yaskawa, Schneider)
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with sales, engineering, and manufacturers for effective support
  • Coordinate with partners to resolve complex inquiries
  • Liaise with vendors for the latest technical information and pricing
  • Sales Process Management: Follow up on quotes and maintain accurate records in Millennium systems
  • Manage the complete quote cycle, including project creation and documentation
  • Provide after-sales support as needed
  • Market and Product Knowledge: Stay informed about new automation products and industry trends
  • Participate in training and seminars to enhance technical skills
