Job Summary Provides technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions | Conducts quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards | Captures and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards | Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards Impact of the Role General Profile Requires skills developed through formal training or work experience Works within established procedures and guidelines with limited ability to modify approach Completes assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Technical expertise.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials.
  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
  • Documents the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Assists with inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
