The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Inspector: Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) are described below: Summary Responsible for inspecting PCB parts and assemblies to applicable IPC and/or J-STD workmanship standards, in addition to internal quality standards. Requirements
- Good eyesight and hand coordination
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems
- Basic component identification skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read & understand assembly documentation and all inspection criteria
- Must have a high school diploma/GED
- Previous soldering experience or training
- J-Std or IPC-A-610 certification required, or successful completion of certification program per an agreed upon timeline.
Responsibilities
- Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
- Load programs per documentation.
- Using magnification aids and stereo-microscopes, inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards.
- Recognize problems in the operation process or with components and communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction.
- Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
- Responsible for understanding & following company, and or manufacturing guidelines/procedures
- Responsible for product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications and procedures.
- Responsible for following established safety rules & 6S
- Conduct in process and final inspections on PCB assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished products
- Ensure that the product conforms to work instructions, IPC or J-STD standards, and internal quality/workmanship standards
- Identify and segregate nonconforming materials
- Complete daily inspection report denoting the acceptance and/or rejection rate all items in accordance with the standards defined within job traveler
- Supports supervisors and/or operators in the resolution of quality problems
