About The Position

The Instructional Designer III, under general supervision, provides leadership and direction in the planning, development, and evaluation of classroom, hybrid, online, and technology-enhanced instructional materials. Leads and manages course design initiatives and faculty development efforts in instructional design, andragogy, accessibility compliance, and emerging best practices. Additionally, designs and develops Python-based and Microsoft Power Platform applications to support instructional and institutional initiatives, utilizing GitHub for version control and collaborative code management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive course design and curriculum development support to academic units, including those developing new online programs, addressing accessibility and compliance requirements, implementing innovative delivery models such as competency-based education, and advancing the responsible integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning.
  • Collaborates with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and review online, blended, and web-enhanced courses; guides faculty through the instructional design process and recommends effective course structure, pedagogy, assessment strategies, and technology integration.
  • Designs, develops, manages, and delivers faculty development initiatives, including workshops, consultation services, digital resources, and structured development courses for full- and part-time faculty.
  • Continuously researches emerging learning theories, instructional technologies, and best practices to enhance teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Advances and optimizes the integration of the Learning Management System (LMS) and related instructional technologies to strengthen course design, delivery, and instructional innovation.
  • Collaborates with instructional design teams, multimedia staff, and faculty development professionals to develop high-quality, innovative instructional solutions aligned with institutional standards.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains Python-based applications and automation solutions to support instructional and institutional initiatives; develops Microsoft Power Platform applications and integrates data-driven solutions as appropriate.
  • Utilizes GitHub for version control and source code management to ensure organized documentation, collaborative workflows, and code reliability.
  • Delivers responsive, high-quality customer service to faculty, staff, and academic units while safeguarding institutional data privacy and adhering to departmental and University policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
