About The Position

Smeal College of Business Marketing Department is looking for a part time detail-oriented Instructional Production Specialist to work directly with department faculty to ensure all Canvas course content meets accessibility standards in compliance with updated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance from the Department of Justice (DOJ). This position will provide hands-on support, training, and guidance to faculty as they work to improve their Anthology Ally scores and achieve full accessibility compliance by the late April deadline.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency navigating Canvas, including course structure, file management, and content organization
  • Understanding of DOJ standards and ADA digital accessibility requirements
  • Strong analytical skills to assess accessibility issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Patient, collaborative approach when working with faculty who may be new to accessibility requirements
  • Experience in higher education or instructional support roles

Responsibilities

  • Work one-on-one or small groups with faculty to review Canvas courses, interpret Anthology Ally accessibility scores, and develop action plans for remediation.
  • Utilize course management system tools to set-up assignments, syllabi, course materials, media, links, and learning resources as directed by the faculty member
  • Assist faculty in identifying unused or duplicate files, low-scoring content, and accessibility barriers within their Canvas courses.
  • Facilitate material migrations between systems.
  • Provide step-by-step instruction on fixing common accessibility issues (alt text, document structure, color contrast, captioning, etc.).
  • Provide consultative services to faculty, on the effective use of emerging media technologies for teaching and learning.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of materials in support of Marketing courses.
  • Applies knowledge of institutional policies and procedures in determining course of action
  • Work closely with instructional designers, IT staff, and accessibility coordinators to ensure consistent support across the institution
