About The Position

This position is designed to strengthen local 4-H program excellence and impact statewide emphasizing the area of 4-H Youth Development at the county level. Support of statewide 4-H Youth Development is expected. This position provides specialized mentorship to new, mid-career, or struggling agents. Mentorship includes focus on individualized advice, success ideas, real-time counsel, demonstration training, teaching on local problem solving, how-to on effective stakeholder communication and meeting effectiveness, coordination and development of relevant peer-to-peer or specialist-led training, and so forth. This position will work directly with and be supervised by the Assistant Vice President - 4-H and Youth Development and provide feedback to all District Directors on local program effectiveness, need and potential. This position will be expected to work individually or with groups of new, mid-career, partial-youth-appointment or struggling 4-H Agents to improve local excellence and impact in program planning, specialist interaction, training opportunities, meetings, stakeholder communication, local 4-H program educational activities, problem solving, impact reporting and evaluation of local program effectiveness to administration.

Requirements

  • An earned Master’s degree in Education, Youth Development, or a closely related field is required. Degree must be completed by the date of hire.
  • Ability to obtain & interpret research information.
  • Ability to anticipate changing trends in assigned discipline area & develop programs to address those changes.
  • Knowledge of the principles & techniques of adult and youth education.
  • Knowledge of the program planning process.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of professional & lay audiences.
  • Ability to communicate & convey ideas effectively to faculty, stakeholder groups, & clientele in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political & cultural factors affecting adult & youth learning.
  • Physical & mental ability to effectively perform the duties & responsibilities of the job, including long & irregular hours of work & frequent in-state & out-of-state travel.
  • Ability to be self directed and fully execute plans of work.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of five years experience working in Arkansas 4-H program.
  • Experience in youth development programming; understanding of state and national education standards; documented evidence of effective teaching ability, ability to interpret research, assess needs, and evaluate programs; documented evidence of success in working with youth in experiential education programs and youth development programs is highly preferred.
