About The Position

Middlesex College invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track Instructor of Accounting.  The successful candidate will teach a range of college-level accounting courses (in multiple modalities) and may also teach Business or Economics as needed. Responsibilities include setting clear course objectives, delivering engaging instruction, grading fairly and transparently, responding promptly to students, and fostering a positive learning environment. The position consists of a 15-contact-hour teaching load per semester and five (5) office hours per week for advisement and tutoring, along with participation in departmental and college-wide activities.

Requirements

  • Master of Accounting or a related discipline from an accredited program
  • College teaching experience in different modalities
  • Commitment to a culture of assessment and evidence-informed teaching
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • An earned Ph.D. degree in Business Administration or a relevant discipline from an accredited program
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CPA, PMP, SHRM)
  • Community college teaching experience
  • Industry experience in Business leadership or relevant disciplines
  • Knowledge of the College’s mission and vision
  • Evidence of diverse instructional methods that address a variety of learning styles
  • Evidence of incorporating digital technologies in both face-to-face and online/remote classrooms

Responsibilities

  • Teach college-level accounting courses (in multiple modalities); may also teach Business/Economics as assigned by the department chair.
  • Establish clear objectives and provide engaging instruction; maintain fair grading, timely student communication, and a supportive classroom environment.
  • Develop and maintain course materials (e.g., syllabi, assignments, rubrics) aligned with departmental standards and contribute to departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain a 15-contact-hour teaching load per semester and five (5) office hours per week for student support.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and college-wide activities, including collaborating with industry advisory boards to support program relevance and strengthen employer partnerships.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the discipline and inclusive pedagogy.
