Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED required
• They must have a minimum of four years journeyman or licensed technician-level in the crafts they will teach OR- Three years’ experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program in the specific crafts they will teach: Fire Alarm/Fire Detection Security/CCTV/Surveillance Access Controls/PLCs Electrical Industry (Residential, Commercial, or Industrial) Nurse Call Systems Telecommunication and Fiber Optics Wind/Solar Industries Building Automation Network & Information Technologies
• Ability to instruct students of various ages and diverse backgrounds
• Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)
• Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information
• Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientation
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be able to work alone or with a team
• Must be able to instruct two consecutive courses per workday; number of hours will vary based on campus location and program.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods of time during the workday
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for short periods of time during the workday
• Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all the workday
• Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
• Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
• Must be able to use various types of technology such as but not limited to computers, projectors, tablets.

Nice To Haves

• NCCER Certified Instructor, associate or bachelor's degree in related field a plus
• The ideal candidate will have experience in the residential and commercial electrical industry, knowledge of conduit pipe and bending, as well as wire pulling in both residential and commercial applications.
• They should also be able to teach low and high voltage systems used in both residential and commercial applications.
• Familiarity with construction blueprints, electrical theory, ESPA Certification and OSHA is a plus.
• Prior teaching and/or training experience is a plus but not required.
• GWO certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Instructors will conduct classroom and shop training using proper instructional techniques and following approved curriculum.
• Instructors ensure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean, orderly, and promote a learning environment.
• They maintain and record student attendance and grades, prepare class lessons and tests in a timely manner, administer tests and make-up tests per UTI procedures manual, and ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures, and safety practices.
• Instructors also ensure that a professional training environment is always maintained in the classroom and shop areas and perform other duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned
