About The Position

The Instructor Manager provides general supervision and coordination of all Alliance Safety Council-affiliated instructors. The Instructor Manager oversees, coaches, and develops the team of instructors. This position also sets the strategy and schedule of Alliance Safety Council's signature programs, as well as OSHA program courses, ARSC reciprocal programs, and other courses as assigned. Administrative work, including performance evaluation, time approval, and scheduling of all instructor-led course offerings, is also included in this role. Teaching experience is required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated fluency and comfort with software used to deliver Instructor-Led programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or similar tools with the same capabilities, and any other tools used in the delivery of Instructor-Led training courses.
  • Demonstrated fluency and comfort with virtual classroom tools, including but not limited to Zoom, WebEx, or similar tools, is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated fluency with the use of web-based and mobile based tools to manage instructor scheduling and student information via scheduling tools and a learning management system
  • Must be competent in all functions of the standard issued Alliance Safety Council computer software.
  • The Instructor Manager has both industry expertise and proven success as a training professional.
  • The successful candidate will have at least ten years’ experience in an industry vertical served by ASC (petrochemical, construction, energy, telecommunications, transportation, or closely related field,)
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising the work of others, ideally in a training setting.
  • A demonstration of training and facilitation skills in the form of a mock training session are expected for role.
  • The Instructor Manager must possess strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail when planning, scheduling, and managing scheduling requests across all courses, for all instructors within ASC.
  • The Instructor Manager must demonstrate competency in applying adult learning principles and best practices in a physical and virtual classroom environment.
  • The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills leveraged when communicating in the physical or virtual classroom, and while collaborating with other members of the ASC team, including Learning Innovation teams and Customer Success.
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills are expected in this role.
  • The successful candidate must possess coaching experience of junior instructors.
  • This individual must have at least five years of experience in safety and hazard identification and control as it applies to OSHA regulatory compliance.
  • They must also meet minimum regulatory requirements for the course(s) that he/she teaches.
  • A bachelor’s degree (in adult education, behavioral science, instructional design, or a related field) and five years’ instruction experience in addition to industry experience is required for this role.
  • Experience in lieu of education may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all training the team delivers meets the observable learning objectives established along with any other guidelines required on a program-by-program basis.
  • Identifies, hires, onboards, coaches/mentors, and develops a team of instructors based on internal and external program guidelines.
  • Manages instructor credentials.
  • Approves pay for team of instructors to include timecards.
  • Performs observations/performance evaluations of instructors on an annual or bi-annual basis.
  • Plans and schedules all Instructor-Led course offerings, coordinating with Learning Operations and Customer Success to ensure offerings meet scheduled demand and business rules established for each of our physical locations.
  • Acts as a point of contact for all instructors for matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general procedures.
  • Facilitate instructor training (instructor development) of ASC’s safety courses.
  • Facilitates effective adult learning using a variety of instructional techniques for both online and physical learning environments.
  • Participates in the evaluation of OTIEC Outreach instructors as needed.
  • Work with the Learning Experience Design staff to provide SME guidance for course content.
  • Provides instructors access to presentations and class materials.
  • Facilitates regular instructor meetings.
  • May be called upon to teach in occasional instances where an instructor is not available.
  • Works with multiple departments (including Customer Success, Learning Innovation, and others) to improve the effectiveness of ASC programs.
  • Other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
