About The Position

The Instructor of the Embry-Riddle Language Institute (ERLI) is a full-time, non-tenure track, 10-month faculty appointment at the Daytona Beach campus. This position is primarily responsible for teaching English for Academic Purposes and related courses within the university’s intensive English program. Instructors teach four courses in the fall, spring, and summer semesters and play an active role in supporting student success through high-quality instruction, academic advising, and engagement in departmental initiatives. This position contributes directly to the academic success and retention of international students preparing for degree study at Embry-Riddle. ERLI supports students who have not yet met English proficiency requirements for degree admission, equipping them with the linguistic and academic skills needed for success at Embry-Riddle. Requirements

  • Master's degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
  • Comfortable using computer technology for administrative and teaching purposes
  • 1 year of experience teaching in an intensive English program
  • Native or near-native oral and written English fluency

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years experience teaching EFL abroad
  • 2+ years experience teaching at an intensive English program
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or assessment
  • Experience using Canvas and/or Zoom
  • Certificate in TESOL (100+ class hours plus monitored practicum)
  • Strong record of professional development activities
  • Bi-lingual

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver instruction aligned with ERLI curriculum objectives
  • Teach English for Academic Purposes and related courses
  • Develop, revise, and continuously improve course content and materials
  • Prepare and submit syllabi, course plans, diagnostic and final exams, Early and Midterm Alerts, and other required documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance and weekly grade records
  • Assess student progress using appropriate and ongoing evaluation methods
  • Provide academic advising, including guidance on coursework, academic intervention, and student success strategies
  • Maintain regular office hours to support students
  • Participate in required faculty meetings and departmental activities
  • Engage in professional development in accordance with the ERLI Faculty Professional Development Policy
  • Remain current in the field through scholarship and professional engagement
