About The Position

Instrument and Controls Technician Plant Dahlberg This position performs technical and analytical services essential to Plant Dahlberg control systems and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic). Plant Dahlberg consists of ten dual fuel GE 7EA combustion gas turbines. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant controls and electrical distribution systems. These systems include: turbine control systems, distributed controls systems (DCS), control circuits, power circuits, control valves, DC control circuits, and control devices. The requirements will include maintenance on instrumentation including but not limited to, pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices that provide input to the various control systems. The job requires use of a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment. The candidate will be responsible for managing the inventory of parts and supplies for the plant control systems. The technician will also have responsibility in the plant maintenance program as a system owner which will include documentation tracking in our computer-based work order system, MAXIMO®. This multi-craft role is involved in daily decision making, operates gas turbines, and supports the Southern Power fleet through ORB’s.

Requirements

  • Must be available for night, overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required.
  • This may include storm duty, including hurricane, winter, or other various storm related issues, as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call outs when necessary.
  • Occasional travel – Up to 25%.
  • An approved two-year technical degree from a certified technical institution or military or similar/relative work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls required.

Nice To Haves

  • Detailed knowledge of plant controls and data acquisition systems desired.
  • Must have good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trending for optimized plant performance.
  • Experience in power plant maintenance or other industrial process plants preferred.
  • Experience in Combustion Turbine (CT) and/or Combined Cycle (CC) plant operation is preferred.
  • Experience with GE Mark VI Controls, PLCs, Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMS) equipment, other digital control systems and Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) preferred.
